Fore Columbarium- A Feathered Haven-Blog

Above the stairway, perched to the northeast of Fore Abbey, is an example of a columbarium. This building would have been a circular tower-like structure with a wooden roof used to keep pigeons.

The monks of Fore Abbey were resourceful and valued providing for the community through sustainable livestock farming.

From the columbarium there is an incredible view of the Abbey against the rolling hills of the Valley. This is the perfect spot to snap a photo of the ancient Abbey ruins. A ‘soaringly’ beautiful sight!
