7th Century AD
Around 630 AD, St. Feichín established the first foundations of Fore Abbey. Fore Abbey became a reputable sanctuary for prayer and leading a simplistic & sustainable lifestyle ethos to ensure the daily & future runnings of Fore Abbey.
12th Century AD
In the late 12th Century, Hugh de Lacy established Fore Abbey as a Benedictine Priory dedicated to St. Feichín. The Benedictine Monks built upon the sacred & sustainable practices introduced by St. Feichín.
19th Century AD
The last prior had surrendered the Abbey to Henry VIII in the 15th Century. The monks dispersed and the Abbey fell into disrepair, eventually bringing the mill, an original and sustainable pinnacle of Fore Valley to a halt in the later 19th century.
21st Century AD - 2021
Fore Distillery was established by Oliver Guirke in 2021 and takes inspiration from the sustainable ethos & original alcohol recipes of the Benedictine Monks of Fore Abbey by using locally sourced materials & spring water to bring Fore Valley Alcohols to life!
The honey coloured spirit is gently matured in ex-bourbon casks before being finished with the unique qualities of locally sourced Irish Oak to impart additional colour and flavour, crafting a truly exceptional Irish Rum.
